how a small act of kindness kickstarted a local movement

Our story

Dinowoody started in the Torres living room during a global pandemic. Lisa would watch her son play so contentedly with his dinosaurs, almost unaware of the chaos around him, and she thought it would be amazing to be able to provide her friends and neighbors with a little bit of that joy. That idea evolved into blow up dinosaurs and inspirational messages on her front lawn.

An ordinance hiccup threatened the existence of the dinosaurs, but the Dunwoody community came together to support the Torres family and their inspirational Dinos in a BIG way. Over 2000 people petitioned to prevent the lawn Dinos from going extinct and their voice was heard - the Dinos would live to see many more days.

Now, those innocent dinosaurs have become something even bigger than themselves, a movement now referred to as “Dinowoody,” by the Dunwoody community and residents and small acts of kindness- with a little dino flair- are being performed all over Dunwoody.

Dinowoody is now a movement, a mission, and a statement by a very powerful community about the power of kindness and what it means to be a community in times of good and in times of bad.

“DUNWOODY DEMONSTRATED HOW MAGICAL & POWERFUL UNITY & LOVE CAN BE. WE’VE USED OUR DINOS TO REMIND EVERYONE HOPE LIVES & WE CAN ALL SPREAD KINDNESS, JOY & GOODNESS IN OUR OWN WAY.”
